A more modern model of motivation acknowledges that motivation is situational, and its level varies between different individuals at different times. In the initial stage, a person starts to feel that something is lacking. There is an urgent arousal of need and the bearer is driven in search of satisfaction. This creates tension which makes the person forget everything else and start working to satisfy the need. This tension also creates attitudes and drives regarding the type of satisfaction desired. The person is then lead to venture in search of information, which eventually leads to evaluation of alternatives where the best alternative is chosen. After choosing the alternative, necessary action is taken. Because of the performance of the activity, satisfaction is achieved which then relieves him of tension.
