Good situation awareness requires three things:
1.Perceiving an event.
2.Comprehending and identifying all of that event’s parts.
3.Projecting what is going to occur.
As an example of situation awareness, imagine that you are driving a car on a crowded street. The driver in front of you turns on his right turn signal. What do you do? Now let’s consider situation awareness from this ‘turn signal’ scenario.
1.You perceived the information, that the car in front of you begins flashing a bright orange light.
2.You comprehended that the bright orange light is the car’s turn signal and
3.you projected that the car in front of you will begin to slow down and turn in the direction of the signal.
After you project what will happen next, you are able to plan your next course of action.
